The Mulund Festival 2011 opened to a packed house of holidaymakers and bevy of newsmakers and celebrities from around the city.

This year the number of contestants increased almost double the last year. The events were Marathon, Singing, Dancing, Painting, Rangoli, Cookery where as Box Cricket, Ramp Walk & Royal Enfield Rally were the added attractions this time. The Enfield Rally had a theme for spreading awareness for a cause. “Beat for Beat” (Save the girl child) save the heart beat of a female foetus. This year the Mulund Book of Records unveiled some super record holders from the field of Cricket, Education, Athletics, Swimming, Table Tennis, Karate, Rifle Shooting, Scuba Diving, Rangoli & Rakhi etc. This year the record holders were felicitated with not just pomp & show but love & respect amidst their own people.

On day one, Poonam Pandey finally made her debute in cricket with her first inning while Charan Singh Sapra played empire to the event. Mumbai 125 kms cast and crew comprising of Director Hemant Madhukar, Karanvir Bohra, Vedita Pratap Singh alongwith Aditya Raj Kapoor, Diya Sharma were in full attendance.

Day two Mahaakshay Chakraborthy, Vaishali Desai were seen shaking a leg to the popular beats along with Charan Sing Sapra and family. Rajev Paul and Misti Mookherjee were also present.

The Grand Finale on Dec 25 at the Nirmal Lifestyle saw famous personalities like Naseem Khan – Guardian Minister, Kripashankar Singh – MRCC President, Jackie Shroff, Madhur Bhandarkar, Kulraj Randhawa, Mahima Chowdhary, Balwinder Singh Sandhu, Anil Sharma, Geeta Basra, among others. A smashing performance by Bombay Vikings along with Sanober Kabir and other performances by this year’s finalists rocked the show.

Charan Singh Sapra, Chairman of Sewak (NGO) who has hosted this festival for the second conseqeutive year now says, “Mulund Fest is an initiative for bringing about togetherness by the cosmopolitan crowd of Mulund. Sewak is an NGO which works towards fighting and supporting many social and community related issues, this year we wish to support and promote Girl Child and I hope to take this message to the people around the world “.

The Festivities concluded with a salute of thanks to the politicos, celebrities and crowd gathered.
